Capital Crest Financial Group was founded by a group of experienced professionals in an effort to bridge the gap between clients and advisors in the advanced financial planning market and most pointed – life insurance premium financing space. Capital Crest Financial Group is made up of seven key members –  three insurance agents specializing in various fields, two CPAs, one attorney, one financial advisor, and one operations manager. Capital Crest Financial Group educates advisors on the various areas and applications of premium finance nationwide. Our strength comes not only from our dedicated and knowledgeable staff, but also from our vast network of advisory partners – including estate planning firms, financial analysts, and insurance organizations. Our goal is to provide a sustainable, long-term model and to simplify premium finance into an easily understandable concept so our clients and advisor partners can make an educated and informed decision.

OUR LEADERSHIP:

Andrew Marin – Mr. Marin is the President of Capital Crest Financial Group (CCFG). Mr. Marin’s financial services practice focuses on estate planning and preservation, legacy planning, and Life Insurance Premium Finance. He has worked with advisors across the country, acquiring experience in helping individuals and businesses structure and fund complex life insurance transactions. Mr. Marin is the principal instructor for CCFG’s Life Insurance Premium Finance course. Furthering his education and offerings to his clients, he is a part-time law student at California Western School of Law in San Diego, with an anticipated graduation date in Spring of 2018. Sharing his time between San Diego and Los Angeles, Mr. Marin enjoys boating, hiking, volunteering, real estate, and spending time with his family.

Marc Schulman – Marc has been an international management consultant and operations executive for over 25 years. He has served as Interim CEO for some of his clients. He has turned around complex, troubled operations for IBM and other Fortune 50 companies as well as many other smaller companies. Marc has developed and taught curriculum on Managing Complex, Global Operations as well as People Management and Leadership to IBM operations executives and managers. The last operation Marc turned around had 80 locations in 20 countries. He left IBM in 2002 to build his own client base.

Some of Marc’s clients have had great success in the medical services arena, and he currently serves as an adviser to a couple of those companies. He has coached and mentored hundreds of senior executives, managers and other leaders in the US as well as in China and Vietnam. He has also built a couple large global sales teams that continue to produce solid results.

Prior to his corporate career, Marc served in the Navy from 1982 to 1986 and held various technical and management positions in the US and overseas. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance and a minor in Human Resources from the University of Maryland. Living in Colorado, Marc enjoys monthly trips to Southern California, being active, and spending time with his wife, children, and new grandchild.

James Burns – James is an in-demand lecturer on estate, retirement and business protection. James is licensed as an attorney and practices estate planning, asset protection, tax and corporate transactions. He is author of several books including the widely acclaimed financial book, The 3 Secret Pillars of Wealth. James’ life is about service. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps’ Force Reconnaissance where he trained in special operations and anti-terrorism. After military service James parlayed his skill set into executive protection and worked for the late Doris Duke. There he assisted her daughter in establishing one of the first family offices to manage personal wealth and lifestyle assets.

James holds two law degrees, (JD) and (LL.M.) Master of Laws in tax and is admitted to practice law by the State Bar of California, U.S. District Court (Central District of California), U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He has represented clients before the IRS to their complete satisfaction and adulation.

James lives in South Orange County California where he is usually found in the gym or pool when he is not working. He was a tri-athlete in the 1980s while living in Hawaii where it all started and practices various types of martial arts and yoga. He is married and has one son who swims for UC Berkeley.

Nino Venturella – Nino has over 15 years of wealth management experience through his prior employment with Wells Fargo Private Bank, specializing in commercial & residential lending, business financing, and marketing. Prior to working in banking, he worked as a property/casualty sales agent for State Farm Insurance and held a California Real Estate license. He has an acute understanding of business development, contract negotiations, and market dynamics of the financial industry. Nino assists each in house Advanced Planning project, bringing his expertise to structure and administer management of complex transactions. Nino assists new lending partners across the country implement and manage Advanced Planning divisions.

Nino is a long-time San Diego resident and has built a large business network over his career. He leverages his contacts and relationships to help raise money for those in need. He has a passion for organizing niche philanthropic events which led him to create the non-profit Cruise 4 Kids, with his wife Bianca. Cruise 4 Kids produces several galas and exotic car rallies. Nino is also the Social Chairman for the San Diego chapter of Karma International, a private social club.

When home from traveling and out of the office, Nino enjoys spending time with his wife, two children – Sophia and Lorenzo.

Derek Smith – Derek provides full-service tax & accounting within CCFG, specializing in individuals and business tax & accounting needs. Derek specializes in providing services to Individuals, LLCs, C Corps, S Corps, Estates, and Trusts. With a passion for what he does, coupled with the experience and expertise needed to serve the needs of our clients, Derek provides an unrivaled level of service to all clients.

Derek and his wife enjoy boating, the outdoors, and traveling.
